"My favorite thing about being a chocolatier is hearing about and seeing folx reactions once they've taken a bite of a Hot Shot Chocolate! Seeing their faces light up, expressions change and the sometimes uncontrollable "mmm's" that I hear are so motivating! It feels so good to be able to share my passion with others. What's more satisfying than chocolate than giving the gift of chocolate!" - Kelly, Hot Shot Chocolate
Diversity and Inclusivity Statements
We honour the land that we live and work on which is the traditional territory of many nations including the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishnabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee and the Wendat peoples and is now home to many Indigenous Nations from across Turtle Island including First Nations, the Inuit and the Metis. These nations and the land we live and work on were subject to the Dish with One Spoon Wampum Belt Covenant, an agreement to peaceably share and care for the land and it's resources. Other Indigenous Nations and all settlers, immigrants and newcomers are invited into this covenant in the spirit of respect and friendship. Today, Tkaronto, now known as Toronto is under Treaty #13 with the Mississaugas of the Credit.
Anti-Racism and Discrimination Statement
We honour and support the activism and importance of Black Lives Matters. We support the activism for justice for all BIPOC and put in our efforts to be anti-racist. We acknowledge we still have much to learn and correct within ourselves. We will not contribute to systematic racism and we will listen to BIPOC voices in efforts to continue learning, lift up their voices and help however we can. We will strongly look within our own policies and practises in efforts to be anti-racist and inclusive now as well as while we grow in the future. Discriminatory speech or conduct will not be tolerated and we will do our best to educate those expressing these discriminatory views in efforts for positive change.
Kelly Maxfield / Hot Shot Chocolate are a queer identified small business who are body and sex positive as well as proud members of the LGBTQIA2S+ community. We believe all humans deserve mutual respect at all levels and it is important to us to foster an environment of diversity and inclusion. Discriminatory speech or conduct which is racist, sexist, transphobic or homophobic will not be tolerated as well as discrimination based on ability, age, class, religion, language and ethnic origin. Displays of any such sort will not be tolerated.
I hope you'll join us in taking best efforts to ensure safe, inclusive environments for everyone to enjoy!
Now let's have some chocolaty fun!
